Round one of the Top Notch Summer Series would be held at Coyote Hobbies. The Top Notch Summer series is a six race series with three throw outs. As the first round approached it would have a decent entry count of around one hundred twenty entries. As I arrived Friday to practice I had a great time running some good laps on the new Coyote Hobbies layout. My Team Associated B5m was good all day, powered by Venom batteries and looking good by my painter DA Designs.
As Saturday was upon us, Expert Mod buggy was up. As the race started I would be off to a great start with zero mistakes, Team Associated sponsored Jeff Guest would be also on blistering fast run. Jeff and I would battle for the TQ the whole race. The TQ came down to the last lap and I made a costly bobble which would give Jeff the overall TQ by one tenth of a second. Second round of qualifying would not go as well with many mistakes but with a very solid first run I would qualify second for the A main.
As the mains came I would have a good start and Jeff made a costly mistake which would put me in the lead. I never looked back and held a clean line with zero mistakes to take the overall win in Mod Buggy.
All in all I had a great weekend and can’t thank my sponsors for all the support. Coyote Hobbies, DA Designs, Blais Racing Services, Venom and Jeff Guest for all the setup help on my B5m. Can’t wait for the next round at SCVRC.
