BLAIS RACING SERVICES RACE REPORT!

DP4 Racing – UTV Series
Round 5, Johnson Valley, CA
9/7/19

By:  Chris Blais & Jeremy Gray, UTV PRO Turbo, 1st Overall.

DP4 Racing has been growing lately and we have decided to finish out the series this year.  Round 5 would take place in Johnson Valley, CA.  I haven’t raced out here in over a decade but I know this area and terrain.  The team put in a lot of preparation for this race to make sure we were ready after winning the PURE AVE 151 night race the previous weekend.  We dialed in our TM1 Motorsports/ UTVShocks.com suspension by Tom Morris for the rocky Johnson Valley terrain.  We also installed some fresh Kenda Kongur tires on our Raceline wheels for the best setup around to handle the rough Johnson Valley Desert.

Jeremy and I would start 2nd off the line again behind Robert Nuckles.  Robert always puts in a high paced first lap so we just stayed within 15-30 seconds of him the entire way.  We both put in 3 solid laps and I just couldn’t get around Robert.  He would make quick pits to stay in front of us and we would leave the pits right behind him every time.  On the 4th lap we noticed he was slowing a little in the big sand wash.  We were finally able to make the pass for the lead.  We had a clean run to the finish and won the Overall by over 15 minutes.  We always have a good race with Robert and look forward to the next event in a month.  My PWRTune/ KWI powered car ran perfect all day long without any engine or belt temp problems in the 100 degree desert weather.  We have been running the new GSP Revolution Axles to put the power down to the ground.  We put our Kenda Kongur tires and Raceline wheels through some punishment in the rocks without a single issue.  That combined with our ZRP knuckles we have the strongest combo around to put us on the podium.

DP4 did a really good job laying out this course. It had a bit of everything out there.  Tight sand washes, fast open sand washes, Rocky hills, Virgin valley crossings, Powerline roads, etc.  It was a great mix of terrain.  We did 5 laps around a 25 mile course which was perfect.
